Topic: Thebox - the second generation - the end?

The descendent of TheBox is dead.

This may mean nothing to many of you. If so, please move on.
There is nothing of interest here for you.

But for those who have specialised in acquiring British media downloads using a specific medium, it will be a sad time.

TheBox died some time ago.
It quietly moved to a new, secret location which has recently also gone silent.
They seem to have sensed danger afoot.
I have heard of no new residence for it.

This is very sad indeed.
If you have benefited from TheBox - or its various incarnations - you might also bemoan its demise.
It has been a powerful resource for perpetuating Just A Minute.

Vale.

I am pretty gutted over, as it was a really awesome site, full of content -- especially older programs. I also belong to UKNova, but there the content is only held for a short period (several weeks I think) before being dropped off. That, and you could donate to add to your share ratio. UKNova didn't. That was another major plus in their favour.

Not sure what I'm going to do now. I belong to other torrent sites, but none of them could ever hope to hold a candle to The Box/ZXCV in regards.

It may be the end of our local UK Video watching group that has been around for over 25 years.

The man relied on it for pretty much everything since he stopped getting VHS tapes from  the UK and having to transfer them from PAL.

If anyone has an idea of other sources please contact me Off Group and I can pass it along to him.

One can only hope that a quality site like kickass can take up the strain...

Despite announcing that they would close on 1st August, the site is still up and running, still accepting new torrents and still providing downloads.  Recent discussions in the forums have given a few suggestions for sites to adopt as replacement.
I thought the emphasis on secrecy regarding the revived site seemed to work; the only place I have seen the site's name quoted has been in this thread!

There were still something like 30,000 users on the revived site.  Smaller, very closed, very secret communities can thrive.

Hmmm. It seems to be well and truly gone now:

The most recent ISIHAC is still on iPlayer.
It and the rest of season 61 are also in the Jar.
